Sometimes buying cloth napkins can be a super easy, inexpensive and hassle free way to make pillow covers.  You may not want to have or pay for any extra fabric or you may not want to wait for it to come in the mail.  maybe you even hate the anticipation that comes from wondering if […]

I love how as human beings we are intended to grow, change and evolve.  If we didn’t, there would be no true joy or satisfaction.  And in that process, our needs and wants, our styles and opinions change as well….and hopefully for the better.  In thinking about these things, I have been so excited to […]

Nearly every season there is a need to purge the closet of all of it’s unnecessaries.  Winter and Spring, really, for moving coats in and then back out.  And then there’s all the accessories for keeping warm during all that winter fun…..hats, gloves and snow suits.  These things become bulky and quickly out of control […]

My special needs sister in law was engaged to be married in October.  We are LDS and so often times we use the church buildings cultural hall(or gym) to throw the reception.  It’s free and usually just down the street.  The only teenie, tiny challenge can be trying to draw the eye away from all […]

Hi, stumbled on your blog. The reception looked beautiful. We’re doing a reception for my daughter next week. I have lights and paper lanterns, but I’m not sure how to hang them in our cultural hall. How did you get them up? I bought some little Command hooks that are supposed to be removable, but not sure how they’ll work on the painted walls, or if they could damage them.ReplyCancel

    • Hi Denise! I replied via email….let me know if you didn’t get it.ReplyCancel

I have the same question she did. What is the easiest way to hang up lights in the cultural hall???? How did you do it? Is that twine? or kite string? or thin rope?ReplyCancel

        • Hi Anna! It is so daunting trying to decorate in the cultural hall, right?! We used fishing line. That way it was clear and strong. Our walls already had some hooks up but if not I would have used some command clear hooks(like advertised for Christmas lights) to string up the lights and then we just zig zagged them across. Let me know if this helps!ReplyCancel

clear..the fishing line was to hang the lanterns. The lights hooked onto the same hooks that the fishing line was.

There is a part of me that really appreciates the one of a kind, whimsical, not so ordinary…and certainly not perfect, side of decorating your home and making it “you”.  I still have a long way to go in the decorating department, but I have no shortage of creative/personal touches(or ideas) and most of them […]

This is nothing impressive by any means, but that is what makes these DIY projects so great.  You can make something awesome out of virtually nothing.  I had pretty wrapping paper that I wanted to use, so I cut it to size, and the project was finished.  I tend to be a bit nontraditional so […]

Typically I sew throw pillow covers, not pillow cases…but I have made a couple in my day.  This last week a gal contacted me about making two standard pillow cases using a fabric that I have for my regular covers.  I’m flexible, so I was happy to accommodate.  So I brushed up on some online […]

Today was a day to flush out all the past holiday, wedding, busy pillow market…. junk.  Not just food but activity routines(or lack thereof).  I posted about my workout the other day but I haven’t been regularly working out for at least a month with all of these crazy things going on.  And I felt […]
